BANTING, Oct 7 — Residents near the coastal areas in Banting are advised to be vigilant during the high tide phenomenon, which is expected to occur tomorrow until October 10.

The affected areas include Pantai Kelanang, Pantai Baru Morib, Pantai Morib, Taman Harmoni Morib, Istana Bahagia Morib, Pantai Batu Laut, Pantai Chunang, and Jeti Tanjung Sepat.

Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) president Datuk Amirul Azizan Abd Rahim said MPKL will mobilise its teams to monitor the areas, which are at risk of experiencing seawater overflow.

He said based on the tide table, the district is expected to experience the highest water level on October 8 to 9, with a height of 5.6 metres at around 6.30am to 7.40am.

Amirul added that on Sunday it will be a downward trend, with the highest water level expected at only 5.4 meters at 8.13am.

In preparation for the phenomenon, MPKL has closed beach resorts and public facilities such as food courts and kiosks at Pantai Kelanang, Pantai Baru Morib, Pantai Morib, Taman Harmoni Morib, Istana Bahagia Morib, Pantai Batu Laut, Pantai Chunang and Jeti Tanjung Sepat.

"People, especially residents in this district are reminded not to enter and not to carry out any water, leisure and recreational activities in the affected areas during those dates," he said.
