SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — Some 8,000 Universiti Selangor (Unisel) students will return to campus for face-to-face lessons on November 17 onwards, said its Marketing and Admissions Office director Associate Prof Dr Hashimah Ismail

She said the figure included new students who registered for the November admission for all levels of study at the Shah Alam and Bestari Jaya campuses.

“With the country's target of moving into the endemic phase by the end of October, there is no reason not to instruct students to re-enter the classes to continue learning as usual.

"The management can't wait to welcome the old and new students, many of whom are tired of studying online during the Covid-19 pandemic," she said when contacted.

She said specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) would be detailed to students, which include those on course registration, hostels and induction week (Minggu Tekad Siswa) for new students.

“Sanitisation work will be done before the reopening of the campus apart from providing temperature scanners in every lecture room and dormitory.

"We also plan to give vaccinations to any students who have not done so, in order to protect their welfare," she said.

On September 14, the Higher Education Minister informed that more than 1.2 million students of institutions of higher learning (IPT) nationwide will be allowed to return to their respective campuses in stages starting October 15.

Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the admission of fully-vaccinated students involved all categories of students and all phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), with priority to be given to students in need.
