MB condemns racially-charged remarks about Kisona

SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 — The Selangor Menteri Besar has unequivocally condemned the racist remarks made against our national women’s shuttler, S Kisona.

In his Facebook page today, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari stressed that sports is a uniting factor for our nation and utmost respect must be shown to our players.

“Congratulations to our badminton squad at the Sudirman Cup 2021. You’ve been an inspiration.

“I also firmly condemn the racially-charged remarks that were made towards our national player, S Kisona. Sports unites us as Malaysians, we must hold it in the highest esteem.” he said.

At the tournament, Malaysia lost 1-3 to Japan, dashing the nation’s hopes of reaching the finals.

Amirudin’s statement came after the Badminton Association of Malaysia said that as the governing body of the sport in the country, it has zero tolerance for racism or discrimination of any form and that it will always stand up for our national players.
