SHAH ALAM, Sept 23 — An ambulance donated by the state government from the Selangor Prihatin Humanitarian Fund’s proceeds will be handed over to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza today.
Global Peace Mission Malaysia’s (GPM) public relation officer Salman Mohd Yusop said the handover will be done by the GPM representative at 11am Palestine time.
He said the vehicle worth RM350,000 was purchased in Palestine, equipped with medical instruments and medication that is expected to ease the process of transferring patients to the hospital.
“The donation was also to fulfil the request from the Palestinian Health Ministry, since they are currently short of vehicles due to frequently being targeted during times of conflict.
“We hope the ambulance donated by the state government can help expedite the process of transferring patients to hospital and save their lives,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.
On June 25, the state government announced a donation amounting to RM370,000 from the first phase of Selangor Prihatin Humanitarian Fund would be channeled to GPM for ambulance, as well as food purchases to the Palestinian.
The fund was initially launched for 10 days from May 19, but was then extended to July 31 due to the movement control order (MCO).
Other than the ambulances and foods, the fund’s proceeds will also be used to purchase three relief trucks, fuel, and generator sets.
