SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 — Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said that the Selangor government is prepared for data sharing with Putrajaya, such as streamlining the Smart Selangor programmes with the Federal administration’s MyDigital initiative.
The Menteri Besar said data sharing efforts would align in achieving the state government’s Smart State vision by 2025.
“We don't have a problem, we are open towards data sharing, and we can discuss the terms and conditions as involves date and information and subject to the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act 2010). This is one of the conditions that we would implement as we would comply with the MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).
“But we are open to it as the state is the driving force of the country. If we do not share data, then we will not be able to channel information,” said Amirudin in response to a supplementary question by Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.
Azmin wanted to know whether the Selangor government plans to streamline the Smart Selangor initiatives with MyDigital, including the concept of sharing data with government agencies and ministerial departments as well as cloud computing.
Citing the Covid-19 pandemic as an example, Amirudin said the state government had attempted to share data to control the outbreak.
“Shared data was one of the important issues that would be able to calculate or project the changes or movement of the infection as well as the attitude of the people, which can (help in) formulating relevant (preventive) programmes,” he said.
“To execute programmes such as Smart Selangor, we cannot work in silos. If we work alone, we would not be able to connect the data.”
