SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — The Selangor Mental Health Programme (Sehat) will provide 31 certified counsellors offering psychosocial support and counselling services via its helpline.

State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the service provided is part of Sehat's early intervention initiative, available on SELangkah from August 30.

She said the state government has set aside a RM500,000 allocation to develop Sehat, a holistic initiative to address the mental health issues among public servants, frontliners and the public.

“Sehat is a sustainable mental health plan which includes several features such as promotional and awareness programme, early screening and intervention programme,s module development and counsellor training.

“The programme is in collaboration with the Islamic International University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association (Miasa),” said Dr Siti Mariah when answering a question from Sungai Ramal state assemblyman Mazwan Johar during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, today.

The Seri Serdang state representative said the features and modules of Sehat would be integrated into SELangkah.

“This would enable users to conduct their early screening test to find out their mental health condition.

“After they received their results, they will be given access to Sehat early intervention programme for free, which includes 30 psychological education videos, peer support forum and consultation session with the counsellors via Whatsdoc application,” she said.
