Delay in shipment, Selangor praised for lending vaccines to other states

SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had expressed his gratitude towards the Selangor government for lending 500,000 vaccine doses to other states that are facing low vaccination rates.

In a Twitter post last night, Dr Noor Hisham had praised Selangor for its efforts in helping the states that are in need.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) and thank you to the Menteri Besar and Selangor government… (for) the concern and helping other states in need of the vaccines. This is a notable act ahead of the National Day. Malaysia Cares (Malaysia Prihatin). Insya-Allah (God willing),” the Twitter post read.

Dr Noor Hisham also stated the vaccine doses had to be borrowed from Selangor due to the delay in the vaccine supply shipment.

Yesterday, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government had agreed to lend some 500,000 vaccine doses which was procured through the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) to the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Amirudin said among the states to receive the vaccines are Kedah, Penang and Sabah. The supply is expected to be returned back to Selangor in a month or two.
