SHAH ALAM, August 12 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) continues to maintain the standard operating procedure (SOP) in limiting only six congregants to perform daily obligatory prayers at mosques and suraus throughout the state.
Jais director Dato’ Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad asked the public to be patient and continue to follow the ruling despite having completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“So far there have been no changes and we are still using the previous SOP. Jais has received reports of several cases of people trying to enter mosques and suraus.
"Therefore, we have instructed our officers to inform the administration of mosques and suraus to comply with the old ruling issued by Jais," he said.
On August 8, the government announced that fully vaccinated individuals could perform prayers at mosques and suraus, subject to permission from the respective state religious authorities.
The relaxation that started yesterday, was also given to non-Muslim houses of worship with permission from the National Unity Ministry.
