SHAH ALAM, Aug 9 — The Selangor branch of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) will take stern action against traders who sell pure palm cooking oil (bottled) above the maximum price from today, said its director Muhamad Zikril Azan Abdullah.
He said a few traders were still selling above the price set by the government with the excuse that they were not aware of the price control and they would immediately revert to the price recommended by the government.
Muhamad Zikril Azan said following inspections from Aug 1 to Aug 7, KPDNHEP Selangor office had issued 21 written warnings and for that period no action was taken.
"However, we will be monitoring these premises again and if the traders continue to violate the regulation, action will be taken starting Aug 9," he said.
He said price control on bottled pure palm cooking oil and 1 kilogramme (kg) packet had been enforced by the ministry but if there were complaints of increase in the price of palm cooking oil and pure palm cooking oil, further investigations would be conducted under the Price Control and Anti Profiteering Act 2011.
KPDNHEP had on July 28 set the maximum retail price for bottled pure palm cooking oil at RM6.70 for 1Kg, RM12.70 (2Kg) RM18.70 (3Kg) and RM29.70 (5Kg).
