Cyberjaya cemetery designated as burial location of Muslim Covid-19 patients

SHAH ALAM, July 30 — Raudhatul Baqi’ Muslim Cemetery in Cyberjaya will be used as one of the burial locations for the remains of Muslim Covid-19 patients from Serdang Hospital.

Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) president Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said this was announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari during his official visit to Serdang Hospital recently.

“The services provided at the cemetery are funeral applications, funeral management, surveillance and maintenance of the grounds.

“The funeral operation time is from 8am to 6pm every day. Funerals outside the operating hours are only allowed on certain cases with permission from council management," he said in the MPSepang Council Members Meeting announcement today.

With the cemetery placed under the Covid-19 Centralised Funeral Arrangement, Abd Hamid hoped, it will reduce the time taken to manage the remains of patients and ease congestion at Serdang Hospital’s Forensic Department.

"The 4.67-acre cemetery with nine zones can accommodate more than 1,500 burial plots, including for adults, children and limbs," he said.

On July 17, the Selangor government announced an initiative for the funeral arrangements of Muslim and non-Muslim Covid-19 patients at the Shah Alam Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang to overcome the congestion of the existing mortuary.

The Section 21 Muslim Cemetery in Shah Alam and Selat Klang Muslim Cemetery in Port Klang was selected for the burial of Muslim Covid-19 patients.

While for non-Muslim patients, the remains will be referred to the local authorities for burial purposes and appropriate crematorium arrangements.
