SHAH ALAM, July 23 — Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah) has provided funds amounting to RM81.37 million to 7,444 small traders throughout the movement control order (MCO) 1.0 until 3.0, says its chief executive officer.

Dato’ Seri Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor said the assistance in the form of rolling capital was channelled from March last year until July this year to help entrepreneurs affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Recently, Hijrah has offered a second loan moratorium of one and a half months. Hijrah also had rescheduled the payment to ensure the sustainability of traders’ business so that they are able to repay the loans.

“Those who want to apply, can contact our officers at our 20 branches or visit our website www.hijrahselangor.com for further details,” he said when contacted yesterday.

Mohamad Suparadi also encourages the borrowers to repay their loans consistently so that other entrepreneurs can enjoy the same benefit.

On June 9, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced a few initiatives under Hijrah Selangor to cushioned the Covid-19 impact on entrepreneurs through the Kita Selangor Package 2.0.

He also announced an additional RM80 million allocation to help 8,000 entrepreneurs by providing them a seed capital (modal awalan) specifically for those who lost their jobs due to the MCO.

Through the same package, a total of 40,000 Hijrah entrepreneurs were given a loan moratorium for one and a half months involving a financial impact of RM11.35 million.
