'Walk-in' vaccination for Klang Valley senior citizens starts today

PUTRAJAYA, July 17 — Beginning today, senior citizens aged 60 and above can walk into any vaccination centre (PPV) in the Klang Valley for their Covid-19 vaccine jabs, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Plan (PICK) said this walk-in facility is available to senior citizens who have not yet received their vaccination appointment dates.

“Senior citizens who turn up will be allowed to enter the PPV via a designated special lane,” he told a virtual press conference on PICK held jointly with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba yesterday.

The implementation of this walk-in vaccination for senior citizens was announced by Dr Adham at a press conference on Thursday.

Elaborating on the matter, Khairy said personnel at the PPV would manually register these senior citizens if they had not yet registered via the MySejahtera app or the website of the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

PPV personnel would also get the particulars of their next of kin or family members who can be contacted for issuing a reminder on their second vaccine jab appointment, he added.

Khairy said senior citizens who had been given their vaccination appointments should stick to the given dates and should not turn up for the walk-in jabs.

“This walk-in method is only for senior citizens who have not received their appointment dates. Those who have received their appointments via MySejahtera should stick to the appointed dates. I would like to assure them that they can get their first dose before August 1,” he added.

About 2.68 million senior citizens have received at least one dose of the vaccine under phase two of PICK, which covers those aged 60 and above, the vulnerable group and persons with disabilities.
