Exco: Be sure food basket programme reaches all affected groups

SHAH ALAM, June 28 —  The people representatives in Selangor need to ensure the RM50,000 allocation through the state’s Food Basket Programme is channelled to all affected groups, including the Orang Asli community.

State executive councillor for Orang Asli affairs Hee Loy Sian said state assemblymen and MPs should not only focus on the low-income group (B40) while ignoring marginalised groups.

“The representatives have the list of tok batin and Orang Asli residents who require assistance in their respective constituencies.

“They need to ensure the Orang Asli community is not excluded from receiving aid through the allocation provided by the state government,” he told SelangorKini

On June 9, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that all state representatives would be given additional funds amounting to RM50,000 through the Food Basket Programme under the Kita Selangor 2.0 stimulus package.

Pakatan Harapan MPs were also allocated RM30,000 each to ensure the welfare of the people is well taken care of.

With a total worth of RM551.56 million, the Kita Selangor Package 2.0 includes three strategies outlining 25 programmes and is expected to benefit 1.6 million people in the state.
