Vaccination at old folks’ homes, OKUs to be completed next week

SHAH ALAM, June 24 — The state’s outreach immunisation programme to administer the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at senior folks’ care centres and persons with disabilities (OKU) is expected to be completed next week.

Selangor State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said after this his department would focus on the vaccination of homebound chronic patients.

"We will identify (them) and will give them vaccines. For this programme, a total of 17 teams will be mobilised,” he said after attending the handing over of food baskets from Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to 40 medical staff at the vaccination centre (PPV) at Dewan Besar Tanjung, in Section 19, here today.

The outreach programme started on June 8, is offered to care centres run by the government or the Malaysian Health Department, licensed care centres under Act 506 and Act 586, as well as unlicensed private care centres.

According to information shared by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari on Facebook, the programme that ran in stages, has vaccinated 1,893 individuals including staff from 68 care centres.
