Third phase of Selangor's community testing expected to kick off on June 19

SHAH ALAM June 13 — The third phase of the Selangor’s Covid-19 community screening which will involve hotspot areas is expected to begin on June 19.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said the programme has been scheduled to run for four days in several different locations simultaneously from 9am to 4pm.

“However, the plans will be finalised by the state government. According to the planned schedule, the first day will involve the Sungai Tua, Gombak Setia and Taman Templer state constituencies,” he said when contacted today.

Mohd Noor the state agency is anticipating a higher participation rate following increased public awareness.

“We will screen as many people as we can and we will not limit the number of attendees.

“We hope that the percentage of those who are suspected of the coronavirus will be lower compared to the second phase,” he added.

On Thursday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state will continue with the third phase of the mass screening operation in areas that have recorded a high number of cases as well as industrial areas and factories.

He said the third installation aims to see 100,000 individuals tested.

Since the free testing initiative was introduced last March, Amirudin said over 100,000 people in Selangor were screened.

The first phase was initiated beginning the first movement control order (MCO 1.0) with more than 26,000 individuals screened while 97,565 people had participated in the second phase, which ran from May 8 until June 10.
