KUALA SELANGOR, June 7 — The mega vaccination centre (PPV) at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam campus here is able to manage up to 5,000 doses a day in stages.
The campus hospital director Prof Dr Sazzli Kasim said for the initial stage, they had set 500 individuals to vaccinated daily at the PPV, which officially opens today, from 8am to 5pm.
He said the hybrid vaccination PPV will be operational for a four months period until the end of October, involving the administration of vaccines directly in the hall or room, and by drive-through which s expected to start in two weeks time.
"The drive-through service is easier because the recipient only needs to sit in the car, but factors such as weather needed to be taken into account, if it rains, the vaccination process may be a little difficult as the recipient also need to undergo observation for 15 to 30 minutes," he said when met.
Meanwhile, Dr Sazzli who is also the head of the PPV project informed that for the initial stage, between 40 to 50 per cent of the vaccine recipients will be the elderly and people with disabilities (OKU) over 60 years old who will receive the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine.
Apart from the institution, two other public universities also provide similar services, namely Universiti Sains Malaysia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad today informed that the drive-through vaccination service at the mega PPV at UiTM Puncak Alam Campus will start operating within two weeks.
