KUALA SELANGOR, June 5 — The second phase of the community screenings programme is expected to be implemented with a focus on high infection areas that registered more than five per cent positive Covid-19 cases.

Selcare Clinic manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said this would be decided after his team and Selangor Task Force Operation (STFO) presented the results of the community screening programme that covers 56 state constituencies.

“Basically, we and STFO were planning to enter the relevant areas but have to wait for further instructions from the state government for this implementation.

"We wanted to see the effect after this screenings programme is completed because individuals who are positive for Covid-19 and those who can spread the virus have been isolated. Therefore, the number of cases should decrease if it (screenings) is done again,” he said at the free Covid-19 community screening at Sungai Gulang-Gulang Public Hall here today.

So far, eight state constituencies have recorded suspected positive cases above the five per cent level, namely Kajang (8.08), Hulu Kelang (8.06), Bukit Antarabangsa (7.58) and Sungai Tua (5.63).

Other state constituencies include Gombak Setia with 8.24 per cent followed by Taman Templer (7.99), Seri Setia (6.99) and Taman Medan (5.29).

Meanwhile, Mohd Noor said his team did not rule out the possibility of screening individuals from house to house as done during the beginning of the outbreak last year.

"It has not been decided yet, but we are ready and there are no restraints because the matter was also proposed by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari," he added.
