SHAH ALAM, May 31 — The Selangor free Covid-19 mass screening programme will proceed as scheduled during the full movement control order (FMCO), says Dato’s Seri Amirudin Shari.
The Menteri Besar said the National Security Council (NSC) has given the green light for the testing initiative to run despite the enforcement of the total lockdown beginning tomorrow.
However, he said the state government would have to prepare reports to the police as well as increase the monitoring and speed up the screening process.
“We discussed earlier (the decision to continue with the screenings) and the programme is allowed with no restrictions by the NSC.
“We will increase the monitoring to ensure that there will not be any mass gathering at one time as an attempt to curb the transmission of the Covid-19 infection in a new area,” he said when met after receiving contribution for the Selangor Prihatin Humanitarian Fund from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) here today.
On Friday, Putrajaya had announced a nationwide total lockdown on social and economic sectors (first phase) for 14 days beginning June 1.
The Selangor government has actively conducted free mass testings in its 56 state constituencies beginning May 8 until June 10.
To date, the programme has been carried out in 36 state constituencies.
