SHAH ALAM, May 12 — The Selangor Child Nutrition Programme for kids from low-income families (B40) is expected to begin in June, says state executive councillor for urban wellbeing Rodziah Ismail.

She said the group will be provided with a balanced food diet for six months involving an allocation of RM1 million.

“This initiative targets urban children in the People's Housing Project (PPR) flats and low-cost houses who do not get nutritional food due to poverty.

"We have implemented a questionnaire involving the target group, God willing, this program will be successful with the cooperation of various parties," she said after presenting Aidilfitri aid to Selangor Digital e-Supply Chain (Seldec) riders at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) here today.

The 2021 Selangor Budget allocated RM6 million for the Selangor Food Bank programme in all 56 state constituencies.

A total of RM1 million from that allocation is used for the Selangor Children Nutritional Programme that focuses on those aged six and below.

On October 30 last year, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said a study by the Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) at the Kota Damansara PPR found that 33 per cent of the children in the housing had stunted growth and nutritional deficiencies.
