Endau, Triang sub-districts in Mersing, Johor to be under MCO from April 20

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — The Endau and Triang sub-districts in Mersing, Johor will be placed under the movement control order (MCO) from tomorrow until May 3.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob said the MCO at the two sub-districts was due to new cases of the Kampung Air Batang cluster being detected at both localities despite having exceeded two incubation periods (28 days) and preventing the cases from spreading to other localities.

“So far, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has carried out 437 screenings and, of the total, 69 Covid-19 positive cases have been recorded, with 25 cases still active, while 29 results are still pending,” he said in a statement on the conditional MCO (CMCO) and recovery MCO (RMCO) today.

He also announced that the enhanced MCO (EMCO) in Kampung Murni C, Nabawan in Sabah would end tomorrow as scheduled.

He said the decision was taken after the Covid-19 risk evaluation as well as the MOH confirming there has been a reduction in cases and the clusters are under control, with the last case recorded on April 13.

Meanwhile, he said 196 individuals were detained for flouting standard operating procedures (SOP) yesterday, with 191 of them compounded and the other five remanded.

Failure to adopt physical distancing was the most common offence (191 cases), followed by not wearing face masks (21), failure to record personal details (15), entertainment centre activities (13) and other violations (28).

Under Ops Benteng yesterday, Ismail Sabri said 31 illegal immigrants were detained, two deported and nine land vehicles seized while 116 boats were detected in the country's waters through 14 surveillance activities.
