SHAH ALAM, March 30 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has urged the local authorities to simplify the application for temporary business licences to assist groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Amirudin said the local authorities should also provide locations for the traders as well as for car boot sales.
“Most of the local councils in Selangor involve urban areas, so we do not want the opened stalls to be unorganised.
“Many are currently starting their own businesses. Who would expect that after 20 years of working and suddenly you are retrenched (so) the local authorities must work with the Selangor government to help the people,” he said during the 6th-anniversary celebration of the Hijrah Selangor Foundation at the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS), here yesterday.
Amirudin said the impact from the first phase of the movement control order (MCO) since March last year was felt to this day.
“However, the state government is taking immediate measures to cushion the effects of the pandemic such as rolling out the Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDI) and Go Digital initiatives.
“The NaDI scheme assists those who intend to or who have just started their business with a loan offer of between RM1,000 and RM5,000 while Go Digital assists them in the digitalisation process through the purchase of telecommunication devices,” he said.
The NaDI and Go Digital schemes have targetted 3,000 recipients each.
