Senior citizens, high-risk groups urged to register for vaccine

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, March 18 — Senior citizens, patients with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases, and persons with different abilities (OKU) are scheduled to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in the second phase of the national immunisation plan.

The Selangor State Health Department (JKNS) said the group is required to receive the vaccine as they are at a high risk of facing severe complications if infected by the coronavirus, which could be fatal.

“Do not forget to register for the vaccine through the channels set up by the government,” JKNS said on Facebook today.

The second phase of the vaccine, which is scheduled to begin next month (April) until August, is targetted at senior citizens aged 65 and above, high-risk groups as well as the OKU.

The government has prepared five methods of registration for the vaccine that are accessible manually and online.

According to the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Handbook, there are two ways to register online, namely through the MySejahtera mobile application or the website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.

Meanwhile, manual registrations can be done at private and public clinics or through residents’ assistance programmes in suburban or rural areas.

Information on the vaccination appointment will be informed through the MySejahtera app, phone calls or SMS.
