SHAH ALAM, March 18 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, together with the state executive councillors, have received their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine today to complete the dosage for immunisation.
Members of the Selangor Security Special Committee were also among the 42 individuals who received the second dose at the Shah Alam Hospital, here at 2.45pm.
They were administered the vaccine 21 days after receiving the first dose on February 25.
Also vaccinated were Deputy Minister of Health I Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali; State Public Health, Unity, Women Empowerment and Family Committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud; State secretary Datuk Nor Azmie Diron; State legal adviser Dato’ Salim Soib @ Hamid; and Selangor State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman.
Earlier, Amirudin had arrived at the hospital at 2.25pm and had scanned the MySejahtera QR code, which is one of the five steps required to receive the vaccine.
A briefing was conducted before Amirudin along with frontline staff, state executive councillors and senior state government officials had signed the self-declaration and consent forms.
After receiving the vaccine, Amirudin was taken to a special room and monitored for 15 to 30 minutes to monitor possible side effects.
Malaysia is currently in the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme launched on February 24, targetting about 500,000 frontline workers to be vaccinated from late February to April.
The second phase of the immunisation plan involves the Pfizer-BioNTech and Sinovac vaccines, scheduled to kick-start from April to August. Some 9.4 million senior citizens aged 60 and above as well as the high-risk groups are expected to receive the shot in this phase.
The third phase will start in May until February next year and targets around 13.7 million people in Malaysia aged 18 and above, both locals and foreigners.
