Selangor provides basic loan for startups, help small businesses buy gadgets

SHAH ALAM, Feb 10 — The Selangor government has launched the Niaga Darul Ehsan (NaDI) and the Go Digital Financing Schemes to help entrepreneurs in the state during the tough times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the NaDI scheme allows small business startups to apply for a loan as low as RM1,000 to RM5,000.

As for Go Digital, Amirudin said that the initiative serves as a springboard for existing entrepreneurs to digitalise their businesses.

“Go Digital offers a chance for business owners to get used to the digital platform through four elements which include assistance in terms of system, equipment, marketing, and training that are monitored by appointed leading companies,” he said during the virtual launch of the NaDI and Go Digital initiatives on Facebook today.

Amirudin said the state government is constantly working to help the people face the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic including drafting special programmes to assist entrepreneurs.

“The implementation of the second movement control order (MCO 2.0) had required a few initiatives to be carried out immediately due to the urgent need of helping micro-businesses, traders and entrepreneurs who were affected while spurring the Selangor’s digitalisation agenda,” he said.

Through the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget) last year, Amirudin had announced a preliminary allocation of RM10 million for the NaDI scheme to help businesses take up a loan with a minimum of RM1,000.

The scheme targeted 3,000 recipients to start their business immediately with a temporary traders’ licence from local authorities.

Meanwhile, the Go Digital scheme allows 3,000 existing entrepreneurs to apply loans for the purchasing of electronic communication devices such as gadgets and tablets to develop more digital entrepreneurs in Selangor.
