SHAH ALAM, Jan 31 — A total of 22 out of 48 farmers' market (pasar tani) in Selangor have restarted operation so far, said state executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based Industry Izham Hashim.
He said the reopening of the remaining farmers’ markets is being done in stages based on the current situation of Covid-19 transmission in the area.
“The state government listened to the grievances of many traders whose income is affected, they have asked to reopen all the farmers’ markets. So we agreed more farmers' markets would be reopened.
“But, just a reminder to traders and visitors to abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) and maintain the discipline for our common good,” he said after a visit to the farmers’ market at the Shah Alam Stadium here today.

Izham hoped sales revenue to reach RM50 million once all the farmers’ market throughout the state is fully reopened.
On January 12, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said daily markets and farmers' markets could still operate during the movement control order (MCO).
However, its operating hours are only from 7am to 2pm while for the wholesale market it is from 12.01 midnight to 6am and 11am to 4pm.
On January 17, the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) postponed the reopening of the morning market and farmers’ market under its jurisdiction following the increase in Covid-19 cases.
