SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — The special allocation channelled to elected representatives through the Kita Selangor Package will be fully utilised for community welfare programmes.
Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad said he will be working together with state representatives, council members and local authorities to coordinate the activities.
Khalid welcomed the Selangor government’s effort and the announcement of the initiative as Opposition representatives often face constraints in terms of funding from the Federal government.
“In Selangor, the representatives have been effective in carrying out their role especially when it comes to organising programmes for their people.
“We will work together as a team so that the implementation of the programmes do not clash and also to ensure that the problems faced by the people are immediately resolved,” he said when met by the media after visiting the RTK antigen testing programme held at the Selcare Clinic here, on Friday.
Also present was Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi.
The Kita Selangor Package allocated RM100,000 to each of the 56 constituencies in the state to continue implementing the Mesra Rakyat programme.
The Mesra Rakyat programme includes distribution of basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, flour, canned food to local residents.
Selangor parliamentary representatives also receive RM50,000 each for the same purpose.
