SEPANG, Jan 19 — The Selangor government will set up a temporary childcare centre (taska) to look after the children of frontliners at the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the facility was prepared following more than 1,000 security personnel who are currently carrying out their duties at the centre at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

“The frontliners here include those from the Health Ministry (MOH), police force, National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and other civil servants.

“They need the taska to be close to their children because they are all working over time,” said Amirudin after attending a briefing session diring his visit to the PKRC MAEPS 2.0 in Serdang today.

Also present were Selangor State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman, PKRC MAEPS 2.0 director Dr Shahabuddin Ibrahim and Selangor state secretary Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya.

In October, the state government had also introduced the Frontliners Child Care Initiative (iPAF) to assist frontliners by setting up temporary childcare centres.

A total of nine locations were selected for the purpose which included the Sungai Buloh Hospital, Banting Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Kajang Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang.

The facility was also available at the Shah Alam Hospital, Selangor State Health Department and the Selangor State Secretariat Building as well as Bangunan Darul Ehsan.
