SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — Recipients of the Selangor's Peduli Sihat medical assistance scheme (SIPS) must undergo health screening to receive the benefits from the initiative for the following year.
State executive councillor for public health Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud said the screening can be done throughout the year at the Selcare Management Sdn Bhd (Selcare) panel clinics.
Dr Siti Mariah said for the convenience of the people, Selcare will introduce mobile clinics with the cooperation of state representatives.
“Those who fail to undergo screening will not be qualified to continue their policy next year. Instead, they can only receive treatment up to this year.
“By doing the screening, the health data will be gathered and would enable the Selangor government to identify the common sickness within the lower-income (B40) group,” said Dr Siti Mariah at a press conference on Monday.
She said policyholders are urged to use the SIPS benefits, including taking the vaccine injection, and not just for receiving outpatient treatment.
“The Covid-19 vaccine can also be taken using the SIPS after it is being approved. Other than that, its policyholders can also receive treatment for 36 critical and non-infectious illnesses.
“Those who suffer from heart attack will automatically receive the Peduli Sihat Heart Treatment Scheme under the purview of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS)’s corporate social responsibility,” she said.
SIPS offers health assistance to families whose monthly household income is below RM2,000 with allocation for burial assistance of RM1,000; accident coverage (RM5,000); critical illness coverage (RM5,000) and life insurance (RM5,000)
