Covid-19: Govt urged to enforce targeted MCO for sake of health, economy

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 10 — The government is urged to implement the targeted movement control order (MCO) that only focuses on specific areas.

Dusun Tua assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof said the move is better as it strikes a balance between the health and economic needs.

“However, the government should also increase its effort and act more stringently especially during the current conditional MCO (CMCO) period.

“An example is by having a clear communication to make sure people understand and enforce the laws impartially, without giving ‘favour’,” Edry Faizal told SelangorKini.

He said the public is also advised to continue adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) and make an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 if they do not want another MCO.

“There is only one way for us to stop the chain of infection aside from adhering to the SOP which is by assuming the people around us may be a carrier of the virus.

Therefore, keep your distance and wash your hands frequently,” he added.
