SHAH ALAM, Jan 7 — Industrial and manufacturing companies are urged to take part in the Preventing and Detecting Outbreaks at Ignition Sites (POIS) programme to curb the spread of Covid-19 infections among workers.

Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) member Dr Yap Wei Aun said their participation in the programme organised by the state agency will bring a huge impact in the country’s effort to contain the pandemic.

“POIS is introduced to employers throughout Selangor first because the state has a high number of foreign workforce.

“Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor are also encouraged to participate in this programme as they also have industrial areas,” Dr Yap said through a statement today.

According to him, the Selangor government is actively identifying employers deemed as ‘compulsory’ to join the initiative.

“Any companies can make use of this opportunity, however at this early stage, we are prioritising industrial and manufacturing companies that have a high number of workers.

“Employers who wish more information on this can browse the POIS website at pois.selangkah.my as well as register,” he said.

POIS, which has several components, was launched to curb and reduce cluster infections at the workplace.

It also incorporates the SELangkah (Step In Safely) platform, aside from requiring cooperation between employers, employees and the authorities.
