KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 5 — An officer at the Fire and Rescue Academy pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to two counts of making false claims amounting to RM16,344.
Muhammad Rasydan Ismail, 36, was alleged to have handed over to an accounting officer, Wan Noor Kasmaliza Awang, an invoice by Pak Su Global Enterprise, for RM6,480 for the supply of food and drinks for a programme purportedly held from May 6 to 8, 2018, but no such supply of food and drinks was made.
He was also charged with committing a similar offence, involving an invoice from the same company, amounting to RM9,864, to provide food and drinks for participants in a flood operations management workshop, purportedly held on December 3 to 5, 2017, but there was no such supply of food and drinks.
The offences were allegedly committed at the Finance Division, Fire and Rescue Academy, Eastern Region, Marang, in June 2018 and December 2017.
Judge Jamaluddin Mat allowed him bail of RM10,000 with one surety for both charges.
Muhammad Rasydan was also ordered to report himself at the nearest Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office every month and to surrender his passport to the court.
The court set February 2 for mention.
Prosecuting officer from MACC Mohd Aliff Shaharuzaman prosecuted, while Muhammad Rasydan was represented by lawyer Nur Shahida Shaifuddin.
