Dengue cases in Selangor drop 38.5 pct last year

SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — Selangor dengue cases last year dropped to 44,635 cases compared to 72,543 cases in 2019, said Selangor State Health Department director Dato’ Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman.

He said the Petaling district recorded the highest cases with 15,518 cases followed by Hulu Langat (9,842), Klang (6,960) and Gombak (6,642).

“Cases detected in Sepang were at 2,400, Hulu Selangor (1,356), Kuala Selangor (925), Kuala Langat (865) and Sabak Bernam (127).

“A total of 37 deaths due to dengue were recorded in the state last year compared to 56 deaths in 2019,” he said.

He reminded the public to continue taking preventive measures such as maintaining the cleanliness of residential spaces and premises to prevent Aedes mosquitoes from breeding.

“Spend just 10 minutes a week to discard unused water containers and keep the water storage containers closed at all times or apply abate to eliminate the mosquito larvae,” he said.
