SHAH ALAM, Dec 18 — A newborn baby girl with her umbilical cord still intact was found by a man behind his house at Kampung Delek Kanan, Klang, at noon yesterday.
Klang South district police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said a group of children who were playing around the man’s house told him about the infant, and he immediately contacted the police following the discovery.
“The baby girl was found covered in a batik cloth and a towel, and with her umbilical cord still attached. No birth certificate was found with her,” he said in a statement, yesterday.
He said early screening by Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) medical personnel at the location found that the baby was healthy and in a stable condition, and she was then taken to HTAR for further checkup.
Shamsul Amar said police were still looking for the mother of the newborn, and the case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.
