SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — The Selangor Tutor e-learning programme has received 100,000 student registrations since it was implemented in April.

Yayasan Selangor chief executive officer Eddie Ahmad Khodzali said the programme, which ended in September, had provided three million questions to its participants.

“The programme is not the main medium for students. However, it does provide added value to the existing curriculum. What’s interesting is that since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the country, Selangor Tutor has managed to attract public interest.

“As a result, we have extended the programme. Earlier it was from April to May but then it was extended to September,” said Eddie during a Media Selangor talk show interview titled ‘Covid-19: Strategi Selamatkan Pendidikan, Bela Pelajar’ (Covid-19: Strategy to Save Education, Safeguarding Students) last night.

Also present was the Universiti Selangor (Unisel)  Students’ Welfare dean Amidi Abdul Manan.

Meanwhile, Eddie said the number of Selangor Tutor participants who received the Yayasan Selangor sponsorship is still rather low.

“We are sponsoring scholarships to 3,000 Form 1 to Form 5 students, but those who participated in Selangor Tutor are only within the range of 10 per cent from the supposed total.

“Therefore, Yayasan Selangor will study the situation and try to understand the deterrence that occurs, whether they are facing a lack of mobile devices (to use) or due to insufficient data, we will look into it,” he added.

The Selangor Tutor initiative was announced in the second phase of the Selangor Economic Stimulus Package on April 1, 2020.
