SHAH ALAM, Dec 8 — Four water treatment plants (WTP) have resumed operations after it was temporarily shut down following a river pollution incident, says the Selangor Menteri Besar.
Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, and 3, as well as the Rantau Panjang WTPs were forced to close for four hours due to the contamination detected in Sungai Selangor.
"The pollution level reading recorded was at zero TON (threshold odour number) due to the actions by Luas and Air Selangor in resolving the pollution incident," said Amirudin in a social media posting today, referring to Selangor Water Management Authority and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd
Earlier, Air Selangor had in a separate statement informed that operations at Rantau Panjang WTP had resumed at 3.30am and 5am at Sungai Selangor 1, 2, 3 WTPs after recording zero TON pollution level three times in a row.
It said the Sungai Selangor pollution had caused the Rantau Panjang WTP to temporarily cease operations at 11.30pm last night while the Sungai Selangor Phase 1,2, and 3 WTP were forced to shut down at 1am.
It said the ceased operations of the WTPs would have affected 1,274 areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Kuala Lumpur.
