SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 — Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari prays for the wellbeing of his Indonesian counterpart and friend, Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan, who recently announced himself to have tested positive for Covid-19.
“Received news my friend @aniesbaswedan Governor of DKI Jakarta who is confirmed positive Covid-19. Our prayers from Selangor that you remain strong and recover soon,” Amirudin wrote on his Twitter account today.
His tweet was picked up by several Indonesian news portals such as Liputan6.com and Rakyat Merdeka’s digital media platform RMco.id that was reporting on Anies.
Earlier today, Reuters reported that 51-year-old Anies had tested positive for Covid-19.
In a video posted on his Instagram account today, the governor said he was currently asymptomatic and would self-isolate.
"I would like to remind everyone that Covid is still around and can come to anyone," he said.
His deputy, Ahmad Riza Patria, also tested positive to the virus on Sunday, according to the city's website.
