SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — The process of water supply restoration following a water cut is not the same as restoring power due to electricity blackout, says state Public Amenities, Agriculture Modernisation and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman.
Izham Hashim said the process to recover water supply would sometimes take more time, depending on the location of the premises as well as the water pressure in certain areas.
“When a pollution incident has been resolved, the following process would be to channel the water into the balance pool which would take about 12 hours. It would then be channelled into the main pool followed by the service pools and then only it can be distributed to the users.
“The distribution of the water supply would also depend on the location of the users as well as the water pressure factors. That is why it would take up to four days for some of the users to receive their water supply. There is no short cut in restoring water supply,” said Izham during a briefing on the Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih water supply problem solution plan at the Selangor State Secretariat building, here yesterday.
Also present were State Tourism, Environment, Green Technology, and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman Hee Loy Sian and Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) acting director cum principal assistant director (River Basin and Coastal Management Division) Haslina Amer.
“A lot of people are misinformed and question why we cannot take the water from the dams since it is clean. But the water source taken from the rivers are not necessarily from the dams,” Izham added.
