SHAH ALAM, Nov 17 — The Selangor government is in talks with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in finding ways to strengthen communication development and services.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the effort is to benefit the people of Selangor and is in line with the state’s vision to become a Smart State by 2025.

“This is also in line with the Selangor’s digitalisation agenda which was announced in the 2021 state budget on October 30,” he wrote in an Instagram post yesterday.

Earlier, Amirudin had received a courtesy call from MCMC led by its chairman Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek at the Menteri Besar’s office, here.

During the meet, Amirudin was also briefed on the National Digital Network initiative or Jendela (Jalinan Digital Negara), which will involve Selangor.

The state government had allocated in its budget for next year a total RM369 million for the Smart State and Digitalisation Agenda initiatives.

Amirudin had said this is part of the efforts to holistically boost the economy through the transformation of services, social, businesses and entrepreneurship, value creation as well as the creative industry.

He said the policy would also eliminate the stigma that digitalisation would impact job opportunities but would instead improve the quality of employment.
