KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — There are no unusual congestion at all exits from the federal capital to the north, east and south of the peninsula via the North-South Expressway (Plus), Karak Highway and East Coast Expressway (LPT) in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration today.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director, Datuk Azisman Alias said traffic was smooth at 7.30pm yesterday and the number of vehicles was low despite the Deepavali holiday today.
"Traffic from 5pm to 7.30pm was normal even when people started to leave the office and the rush hour was as usual," he told Bernama yesterday.
He believed the public was complying with the government’s directive to not allow inter-mukim, inter-district or inter-state movement for those under the conditional movement control order (CMCO) and enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
Azisman said inter-state travel was only allowed for those in the essential services and others who had obtained permission from the police.
However, he said traffic monitoring would be conducted by police from time to time.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said LPT 1 and LPT 2 in both directions were reported to be smooth so far.
As of 7.30pm tonight, traffic was only slow at some toll plazas due to rain and roadblocks mounted by the security forces.
"Traffic was slow from Subang Jaya to the Puchong Barat Toll Plaza, the entry and exit points at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Toll Plaza and Sungai Besi Toll Plaza to the city centre," he said.
A spokesman for Plus Malaysia Berhad when contacted said traffic to the north and south was smooth.
