PUTRAJAYA, Nov 13 — Employers interested in participating in the ‘Labour Recalibration Programme’ under the ‘Illegal Immigrant Recalibration Plan’ can send in applications to the Immigration Department via email at ‘rekalibrasi@imi.gov.my’ beginning November 16.

Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud in a statement today said only employers from four sectors, namely manufacturing, construction, agriculture and plantations were allowed to participate in the programme.

Employers would need to submit an application letter appended with information regarding the company and foreign workers who wish to participate.

"A review will be done by the Malaysian Immigration Department to ensure that the employers are not on the department's blacklist," he said.

Applicants are also advised to visit the website of the Department of Labour of Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) at http://jtksm.mohr.gov.my/ for further information.

Yesterday, the government launched the Illegal Immigrant Recalibration Programme covering two main components - the Return Recalibration Programme and the Labour Recalibration Programme - which will be implemented from November 16, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

The Return Recalibration Programme would allow illegal immigrants to voluntarily return to their home country, subject to set conditions.

The Labour Recalibration Programme, meanwhile, would turn illegal immigrants in the country into legal foreign workers, employed by qualified employers, subject to strict conditions decided by the government through JIM and JTKSM.
