Bursa Malaysia Derivatives to host POC 2020 virtually

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 — Bursa Malaysia Derivatives (BMD) will organise the Palm and Lauric Oils Price Outlook Conference and Exhibition (POC) 2020 via an online platform, in light of the ongoing developments surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

BMD chairman and Bursa Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift said POC will take place on October 27-28, 2020, and for the first time in 31 years, the conference will be held virtually.

"POC is one of the largest and most respected global palm oil price outlook events, facilitating the exchange of ideas and enabling participants to share their assessments on the developments that will impact the price outlook on the palm and lauric oils markets," he said in a statement.

He said the two-day event will feature multiple insightful sessions by industry experts and provide participants with networking opportunities and a virtual space for brand exhibitions, delivered through an interactive platform designed to have the same benefits as the physical event.

“2020 is a challenging year for many industries globally due to the outbreak of the Covid-19. The Malaysian palm oil industry is certainly not spared.

"Virtual POC 2020 will feature a strong line-up of highly reputable speakers across six conference presentations and two-panel sessions that will focus on pressing topics including the impact of Covid-19 on the global economy and the long-term sustainability of the palm oil industry,” he said.

Returning speakers at virtual POC 2020 include managing director, head of Asia Pacific of CME Group, Christopher Fix, and CEO of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council Datuk Dr Kalyana Sundram.
