KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Police have denied the viral allegation that roads going in and out of Petaling Jaya, Selangor, are closed to traffic.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said police were only conducting roadblocks at three locations in the district, namely Subang, Sungai Buloh and Damansara toll plazas following the enforcement of conditional movement control order (CMCO) from October 14 to 27.
“The (viral) picture was taken from our Facebook account, however, it did not include the status explaining that it was just a roadblock, not road closure,” he said in a statement here today.
The viral status, which has been shared over 1,000 times on Facebook since yesterday, claimed that all entries to and exits from Petaling Jaya, through Damansara, Ara Damansara, Subang, Sungai Buloh, Kota Damansara and the New Pantai Expressway were closed to traffic except to those who have a police permit or employer’s letter.
Nik Ezanee advised the public to adhere to CMCO in order to break the chain of Covid-19 infection, and also to slow down their vehicles at roadblocks for the safety of personnel on duty and other road users.
“The public is also urged to comply with the number of individual allowed inside a vehicle set by the National Security Council,” he said.
