MB: Free Covid-19 testing for those with travel history from Sabah

SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The Selangor government will begin a free targeted Covid-19 screening initiative for the individuals who have returned to the state from Sabah between 20 to 26 September.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this is due to the increased number of cases that may have originated from those with a recent travel history from the Land Below the Wind.

“Due to the new infections traced from Sabah, the state administration would like to assist the Health Ministry in the Covid-19 transmission detection by initiating a targeted screening.

“The screening will be done at any of the Selcare Clinic branches, a company under the state-owned Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd, (and the individuals would have to) present valid travel documents from Sabah,” he said in the statement.

Amirudin said proof of permanent residence in Selangor, such as utility bills, should also be presented for the screening procedure.

“Special arrangements will also be made for the testing to be held at public halls in the Kuala Selangor district,” he said, adding that the details will be finalised in a later date.

The public can drop-by the nearest Selcare Clinic beginning Sunday (October 4). Visit https://selcareclinic.com/our-clinics for further information.

Based on the latest statistics, districts in Selangor which had recorded positive cases of Covid-19 are Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang.

The number of new infections in the state had doubled today with a total of 31 cases, compared to the 13 cases recorded yesterday, with two newly discovered clusters — the Seri Setia Cluster in Gombak and Seri Anggerik Cluster in Hulu Selangor.

Selangor had previously conducted several targeted Covid-19 community screenings during the movement control order (MCO) period.

The first operation was held in Hulu Langat for two days from April 11 involving 649 local residents.
