PUCHONG, Sept 11 — A total of 503 unlicensed hawkers around Subang Jaya have received temporary license to enable them to continue doing business.
Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) Licensing Department director Muhammad Azli Miswan said they started giving out the license since June when the conditional movement control order (CMCO) was enforced to help hawkers who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“MPSJ had also approved 12 new locations for 222 permit receivers to operate during morning, afternoon and night.
“This is to ensure the safety of the hawkers. The temporary license will ease the operation of the applicants especially the B40 group that just started doing business to get an income,” he said after the ceremony to give out the Post Covid-19 Temporary License Programme at Taman Kinrara here today.
Also present at the function were Selangor Local Government, Public Transportation and New Village Development Comittee chairman Ng Sze Han and MPSJ president Noraini Roslan.
Speaking later, Noraini said they also offer places at morning and night markets to the new hawkers.
“We found out that after Covid-19 many people wanted to do business. Since there are available slots, we offer it to them.
“Application can be done at www.mpsj.gov.my and selection made after an interview process. It is open for hawkers in the MPSJ area only,” she said.
