KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 — A total of 16 Malaysian League teams, eight each from the Super League and Premier League, have received approval from the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to hold training sessions for the first phase.
MFL chief executive officer Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan said the teams received the green light after completing some of the documents required by the MFL as M-League administrators.
The documents include swab test results, a registered training venue that has undergone a disinfectant process, a screening test confirmation letter by the team doctor, and the appointment of a coordinator to monitor compliance with standard operating procedures in the open field.
“The first phase of training will be an important benchmark for the team before we move on to the second phase. I also see that each team has adhered to the standard operating procedure (SOP) that is required such as maintaining social distancing of at least three to five metres for activities such as football training.
"I hope all the teams that have given full cooperation can ensure that the transition to the second phase can be implemented quicker," he said in a statement issued by MFL yesterday.
The eight Super League teams approved were UiTM FC, Selangor, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), Terengganu FC (TFC), Perak, Melaka, Felda United FC and Kedah.
The eight Premier League teams are Negeri Sembilan, Selangor II, JDT II, TFC II, Penang, Kuching FA, Perak II and Kuala Lumpur.
The MFL previously changed the M-2020 format by planning to continue the Super League and Premier League competition from September 1-2 until October 26-27 through the half league competitions, the Malaysia Cup from October 17 to November 7, while the FA Cup and the Challenge Cup was cancelled due to time constraints.
