SHAH ALAM, June 9 — Residents of the Kuala Langat housing estates placed under the semi-enhanced movement control order (SEMCO) are not allowed to cross state borders, says district officer Mohd Jusni Hashim.

He said the ban imposed on those residing in Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni will only be lifted after the semi-enhanced order ends on June 16.

“The residents are free to enter and exit the area but they are not allowed to travel across states, and we hope that they will abide by the order.

“We will continuously monitor the condition of the residents and if some of them are facing emotional instability, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) will provide counselling service,” he said.

Jusni said JKM had distributed 1,842 basic food supply to the residents that are in need.

On June 7, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government has allocated RM100,000 to supply food aid to the residents in Taman Langat Utama and Taman Langat Murni.

The SEMCO was enforced on June 3 after 24 cleaning workers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) were found positive for Covid-19 on May 28.

A total of 4,627 Covid-19 samples were taken from the residents involving 3,686 Malaysians and 941 foreigners.
