SHAH ALAM, June 2 — The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) says that the Bukit Antarabangsa area, which was hit by a landslide on May 30, may have to be closely monitored for the next two weeks, BH Online reported yesterday.
Its director Norazam Khamis said seven firefighters, as well as several policemen and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councillors, would be stationed at the Sungai Sering riverbank on a daily basis.
“We will monitor the situation in the next two weeks. If the area doesn’t pose a threat to the residents in the surrounding location, then we may only monitor for another one week.
“The longest that the firefighters will be stationed here is two weeks. After that, the local authority will take over,” he was quoted by the Malay portal when met by reporters at the landslide location, yesterday.
On early Saturday morning, the landslide at Taman Kelab Ukay had affected seven homes involving about 40 people.
The occupants of the houses were ordered by authorities to vacate their homes and were relocated to Hotel De Palma in Ampang for seven days.
The landslide was reported to have occurred following continuous rain, resulting in soil movement in the area.
