SHAH ALAM, June 2 — Parents are the foundation of families and communities of the nation, says the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
In conjunction with the Global Day of Parents on June 1, Amirudin had conveyed his wishes to all parents in Malaysia who face many challenges in child-rearing in current times.
“The sacrifices made by mothers and fathers to build the foundation of the nation cannot be repaid with money.
“So take a moment to appreciate our parents, who have done so much to ensure our wellbeing is well taken care of.
“Happy Parents’ Day to the pillars of families and communities in Malaysia, especially in Selangor. Thank you to all the parents in Malaysia,” he wrote on his social media platforms last night.
The Global Day of Parents is celebrated annually to recognise the primary responsibility of the family for the nurturing and protection of children.
According to the United Nations, it provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents for their “selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship”.
