MB: QR code technology used in distributing aid

HULU KELANG, May 20 — The Selangor government has incorporated the QR code scanning technology in distributing Hari Raya aid to some 2,000 eligible recipients in the Gombak district, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar said the Selangor Kita2Kita (K2K) digital system, which was used for the very first time to deliver contributions, had provided a seamless online registration process and in return prevents the disclosure of the recipients’ information.

“Three centres (for the contribution) are in operation this year and the digital tracking system determines the recipients by individually issuing QR codes for them, which they would have to scan to confirm their identity.

“Previously, they were required to queue up and the aid was handed out to them via a manual process involving state representatives, but this time we had a smooth sailing process as we had been able to pinpoint the recipients,” said Amirudin when met at the Selangor Menteri Besar Inc (MBI) Hari Raya Aidilfitri contribution handover ceremony at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) multipurpose hall in AU2, here today.

The food essentials were distributed to the residents in three constituencies under the Gombak district and the recipients include the senior citizens, asnaf (tithe recipients), and those in the B40 group.

Amirudin said the yearly programme run by the state-owned company is part of its corporate social responsibility initiative aimed to ease the burden of the people who were affected by the enforced movement control order (MCO).

“I would like to express my appreciation on the continuation of the programme as it would surely help many in preparing for the Aidilfitri festival,” he added.
