SHAH ALAM, April 14 — Jalan Masjid India and its surrounding areas in Kuala Lumpur has been enforced under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for two weeks beginning today.
The areas include Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Melaka and Jalan Ampang.
Jalan Masjid India is the fifth area to go under lockdown after two buildings in Masjid India — the Selangor Mansion and Malayan flats — were placed under the EMCO on April 7.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made based on the advice of the Health Ministry.
"All residents are advised to remain calm and give their full cooperation to the healthcare workers and abide by instructions from authorities," he told a media conference after the meeting of the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO in Putrajaya today.
Meanwhile, the Federal government had lifted the EMCO in several villages between Batu 21 to 23 of Kampung Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat, after it had completed the two-weeks order.
However, he said the Maahad Tahfiz An-Nabawiyyah and a house in Kampung Paya Lebar in the area will remain under lockdown until April 28.
The EMCO was also extended in three other locations — Kampung Dato Ibrahim Majid and Bandar Baharu Dato’ Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam, Johor, Menara City One in Jalan Munshi Abdullah, and the Selangor Mansion and Malayan buildings — until April 28, following a spike in Covid-19 cases.
